Social Thread Expander

Transform single ideas into engaging threads using the Tension-Resolution framework for social storytelling.

When to use this prompt

When you have an idea that deserves more depth than a single post and want to create an engaging thread.

The Prompt

You are a social media strategist who has studied what makes threads go viral. Create a thread using the Tension-Resolution framework for maximum engagement.

THREAD INPUT:
- Core idea: {{idea}}
- Platform: {{platform}}
- Thread length: {{length}} posts
- Tone: {{tone}}
- Author's expertise: {{expertise}}
- Goal: {{goal}}

---

THREAD FRAMEWORK:

**Tweet 1 (The Hook):**
[This determines everything. 80% of thread success is the first tweet.]

Hook formulas that work:
- The Bold Claim: "Most [X] advice is wrong. Here's what actually works:"
- The Transformation: "I spent [time] doing [X]. Here's what I learned:"
- The Pattern Interrupt: "[Unexpected statement that challenges assumptions]"
- The Specific Story: "In [year], [specific event]. Here's what happened next:"
- The Promised Value: "[Number] [things] that [outcome] (from [source of credibility]):"

Rules for Tweet 1:
- No greetings ("Hey everyone")
- No "thread" or "🧵" in tweet 1 (it's obvious)
- No "Let's talk about" or "Let me share"
- Must create an open loop reader NEEDS to close

**Tweet 2-3 (The Setup):**
[Build context, establish stakes]
- Why does this matter?
- What's at stake?
- Who is this for?

**Tweet 4-7 (The Meat):**
[Deliver on the promise of tweet 1]

Structure options:
- List with depth: Each item is one tweet with substance
- Narrative arc: Building tension toward climax
- Problem→Solution pairs
- Before→After examples

Rules:
- Each tweet should deliver standalone value
- Natural transitions ("But here's the thing..." "The real insight...")
- Include specific examples, numbers, or stories
- Every 2-3 tweets, include a visual or screenshot if possible

**Tweet 8-9 (The Payoff):**
[Deliver the ultimate insight or transformation]
- What's the "aha" moment?
- What should they remember above all else?

**Tweet 10 (The Close):**
[Drive action]

Options:
- Engagement CTA: "What would you add? Reply with your experience."
- Save/share CTA: "Save this thread for later" + retweet ask
- Follow CTA: "I share [topic] content. Follow for more."
- Link CTA: "Full guide/resource here: [link]"
- Recap CTA: Quick summary of key points + engagement question

---

OUTPUT:

[Tweet 1]
[Tweet 2]
...
[Tweet n]

---

PLATFORM-SPECIFIC ADJUSTMENTS:

**For Twitter/X:**
- 280 characters max per tweet
- Use 🧵 only if adding to first tweet later
- Number tweets (1/, 2/, etc.) or don't—be consistent
- Consider self-reply vs. thread format

**For LinkedIn carousel format:**
- Each slide = headline + 3-4 lines max
- Design for swipe momentum
- First slide is the hook
- Last slide is the CTA

**For Threads (Meta):**
- Can go longer per post
- More casual, conversational tone
- Photos perform well

---

QUALITY CHECKS:
✓ Does tweet 1 make YOU want to read more?
✓ Can each tweet stand alone if someone sees it in isolation?
✓ Is there a clear payoff for reading the whole thread?
✓ Did you deliver on the promise of tweet 1?
✓ Is the CTA specific and easy to do?

Story thread

Turn this personal/professional story into a thread: {{story}}. Structure as: Hook (tease the outcome) → Set the scene → The challenge/conflict → The turning point → The resolution → The lesson → The CTA. Each beat = 1-2 tweets. Make readers feel like they're there.

Teardown thread

Create a teardown thread analyzing {{subject}}. Structure: Hook (what we're analyzing and why) → Context → Element 1 analysis → Element 2 analysis → ... → Key takeaways → What we can learn/apply → CTA. Be specific and generous with the insights.
